Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is it expensive?

No, our service is completely free of charge subject to quantity/type. Unlike other recycling companies there are no documentation fees, handling fees or hidden charges. We offer a fully transparent service, providing you with a cost effective and efficient recycling solution. Our free I.T disposal service includes collection, transportation, recycling, data destruction and all certification.

  • Are there lots of forms to fill in?

Not at all, all you have to do is fill in our online collection form and we will do the rest. You will be contacted by a member of our IT collections team to schedule a collection for your redundant IT equipment, at your convenience.

  • What documents are provided?

You will receive a Waste Transfer Note on the day of collection. Once the equipment reaches our depot, safety checks are carried out and the data destruction process begins; you will then receive a detailed asset report and certificate of data destruction on request. Unlike many recycling companies we offer this service as standard with all collections, there are no hidden charges or fees.

  • How do you erase data on collected items?

Digital Growth’s free Computer recycling service ensures all data is wiped to the highest of standards, all our work is carried out in accordance with the data protection act. Our process of data removal involves multiple overwriting with CESG / DOD / NIST800-88 approved software which exceeds both the standards set by the Ministry of defence and US department of defence.

Our software permanently wipes all data from any data storage device up to, CONFIDENTIAL, RESTRICTED access, SECRET and TOP SECRET levels and will overwrite data from any size of ATA/IDE/SCSI/SAS/USB/SATA/M.2/NVMe/Fibre Channel and FireWire drives. In addition, the software erases all hidden/locked areas on a hard disk such as DCO, HPA and remapped sectors; this process can be time consuming but ensures all data is destroyed and is non recoverable; If for any reason the Hard Drive cannot be accessed or data is proving difficult to wipe the hard drive is then removed and physically destroyed

  • Is there a minimum collection?

This depends on the type of equipment we are collecting if you have high value items then there is no minimum amount otherwise a minimum of 10 computers or laptops is preferred to be eligible for a free collection. If you are unsure you can send us an email with pictures of what you require collecting and one of our technicians will determine if we are able to collect your equipment free of charge
